Apple cider vinegar is a vinegar made from crushed apples which contain acetic acid. The main difference between apple cider vinegar and vinegar for cleaning is the smell – apple cider vinegar leaves a more pleasant smell.
All-purpose kitchen cleaner
If you already use vinegar to clean your surfaces, try using apple cider vinegar instead.
Spray a diluted apple cider vinegar onto your surfaces to get rid of dirt, grease, mineral deposits, and even some bacteria.
This can work on your counters, stove fridge shelves, microwave and pretty much everywhere else in your kitchen.
Add some essential oils if the smell bothers you.
Mildew is often found in your bathroom – particularly in baths and on shower curtains.
Use undiluted apple cider vinegar to get rid of the mildew.
Pour a few cups of ACV into the bath and fill the bath up with hot water.
Leave it for four hours to soak off the stains in the bath and then drain and rinse with boiling water.
To get rid of the mildew on towels or shower curtains, simply add a cup of ACV to a hot cycle and wash as normal.
Any tarnished silver can be polished up using apple cider vinegar.
Simply soak your silver in half a cup of apple cider vinegar and a dash of baking soda.
Leave it to sit for a few hours and then rinse with fresh water.
Apple cider vinegar can neutralize bad smells.
Simmer some ACV in a pan in the kitchen for an hour and let the vinegar do its work.
Alternatively, leave a bowl or two in a room or even inside the fridge.
Carpet stains are always tricky to remove, but ACV will do the trick.
Add a few tablespoons of the stuff to a soft cloth and rub it on the stain.
Let it dry and then hoover up the mess and the stain will be dramatically reduced.
If your plughole in your bathroom or kitchen sink is starting to release a foul odour or the sink is draining slowly, use apple cider vinegar to unclog it.
Pour a few tablespoons of baking soda down the drain and then a cup of ACV after it.
Let the mixture fizz for half an hour and flush the sink with water.
Add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to every wash to keep clothes soft and stain-free.
This trick also gets rid of grease, grime and dirt that is building up within the machine and prevents that bad smell machines often get.
Need to kill some weeds but don’t want to use harsh chemicals?
Pour ACV directly onto weed-prone areas in the garden to prevent unwanted growths from your flowerbeds.
